Congratulations to everyone who participated in our duet recital at the Oldham County Schools Arts Center on March 23. Eighteen duos performed everything from “Frog Went A-Courtin” to “Chopin in the Citrus Belt,” a piece in the style of Chopin composed for left hand and an orange!
Thank you to parents, who helped prepare students, came up with great co-ordinating outfits for them, and made delicious food for the reception.
Performance classes are a great way to take pieces for a test spin, work on reading skills, and have fun together.
I videoed one of the October performance classes, edited the video down to five minutes and posted it on YouTube. There are short clips of the solo pieces, a piece that six students sightread as a group, and a couple of funny post-performance interviews.
Everyone loves the studio Christmas parties. Great food, great friends, and great music--who could ask for anything more?
This year, after the parties were over, I asked a couple of students to meet again so that we could make videos of their pieces. Max recorded his piece at his home and Maggie did hers at the studio. I hope you enjoy them.
